Healing through Connection

Healing through ConnectionHealing through Connection

hey mama, are you looking for support?

Tosa Psych is happy to introduce our new moms support group:

the Motherhood collective

From one mom to another, Dr. Jamie knows how challenging and disorienting new motherhood can be. This transformative time can bring about a range of emotions -joy, excitement, exhaustion, and sometimes even fear and self-doubt.

It can be easy to find yourself questioning if you're doing it "right" or if you are enough for your baby. This group exists to remind you that you are enough while offering psychoeducation and a safe space to process together. We are here to support each other in the tough moments, but also to celebrate the triumphs along way.

This group is also for those that didn't have the upbringing they would have liked and might be hoping to break that cycle moving forward.

Find support with the Motherhood Collective. You don't have to navigate this alone.

I'm interested!

Group structure

What type of group is the motherhood collective?

The group will max at 8 participants and run for 12 weeks. Mother's with children 2 and under are welcome.

Our 90 minute group will be broken up as follows:

  • The first 45 minutes will consist of psycho-education, where Dr. Jamie will discuss a weekly topic.
  • The group will break for tea, coffee, and/or restroom use.
  • The last 45 minutes will be geared toward interpersonal processing, where Dr. Jamie will provide the group with a prompt and members can discuss as they feel comfortable.
  • The hope is that participants will carry on meeting after the formal group ends, offering continued community and support. As they say, "it takes a village."

Topics explored

  • Identity shifts in motherhood
  • Self care & boundaries
  • Attachment & bonding
  • Postpartum mental health
  • Stress management & coping
  • Navigating anxiety & guilt
  • Support networks
  • Body image & physical recovery
  • Positive parenting & discipline
  • Transitioning back to work
  • Help for stay at home moms
  • Mental health of partners and families

Compassionate and Non-Judgmental Environment

From breastfeeding vs. bottle feeding debates to home cooked meals vs. store bought, there is a subtle - but powerful- culture of judgment among moms. It can be as though every choice is scrutinized, creating an environment where moms feel compelled to prove themselves. Ultimately, this leads to a sense of competition rather than solidarity.

Within the Motherhood Collective, we leave this judgment and competition at the door. We recognize that every mother has to make the choices that are best for her child and for her own well-being, and these choices are not judged.

If you'd like to join a group of women who are committed to offering solidarity and support, then reach out today.
