Welcome!
Trauma and grief are central to my practice, particularly when past events continue to shape how you relate to yourself, others, and the world long after they have passed. Many people I work with describe feeling chronically on edge, emotionally exhausted, disconnected, or as though life has narrowed in ways they do not fully understand.
Therapy offers a space to slow down and make sense of what has been carried for too long. I take time to understand your history, patterns, and inner world, integrating that understanding with clinical expertise, including psychological assessments, to help you feel more grounded and safe within sessions. Together, we focus on restoring stability, increasing emotional flexibility, and finding reconnection to your life and relationships in ways that feel sustainable and fulfilling.
Experiences such as trauma, cumulative stress, and enduring grief can quietly disrupt what once felt familiar or meaningful. Through depth-oriented talk therapy and EMDR therapy, I help you process unresolved experiences, loosen long-standing patterns of protection or avoidance, and move toward a way of living that feels more aligned with who you are now and who you are becoming.

Prolonged grief can often be addressed through grief counseling, while relational trauma may require specialized trauma therapy. Many individuals struggle with depression and anxiety, which can be assessed through psychological assessments. Relationship difficulties and disordered eating are also common issues that can arise from unresolved trauma. For those experiencing bipolar disorder or other mood disorders, EMDR therapy can be an effective treatment option. Additionally, dissociative disorders may benefit from targeted psychological assessments to better understand the underlying trauma.

EMDR training from the EMDR Humanitarian Assistance Program focuses on effective EMDR therapy techniques. This intensive trauma training, offered through trauma rotation at SSM Hospital, is complemented by coursework at Nova Southeastern University, College of Psychology. My experience includes working at a Neuropsych Assessment Center and Sports Medicine Center, where I conducted psychological assessments and provided grief counseling as part of trauma therapy.

Nova Southeastern University offers a PsyD in Clinical Psychology and an MS in Clinical Psychology, while the University of Central Florida provides a BS in Psychology. Wyatt Kinner is currently focusing his dissertation on Treatment for Complicated Grief related to the COVID-19 Pandemic. This research explores critical features of grief counseling and seeks to identify underlying themes that should be addressed when considering the impact of COVID-19, particularly in relation to trauma therapy. Additionally, the study may involve psychological assessments to better understand the needs of those affected. Wyatt Kinner is currently under the supervision of Domenick Tirabassi (PSY508957). Grief is the emotional response to loss and is not limited to the death of a loved one. It can arise from life transitions, bereavement, or any experience that feels like a loss. It’s important to understand that grief is a universal experience, and it’s normal to experience symptoms as part of the grieving process. While grief can look different across cultures, it is vital to consider additional support when symptoms become intense, persistent, or cause significant distress or disruption to daily life. Symptoms include:
